Can AI Do Fashion Photography?
Well, hold my cup of chai.
I haven’t shared much about AI fashion photography yet, not for lack of interest, but because I’m a bit nostalgic for the sound of a real camera’s shutter when capturing portraits. There’s something about that click that’s hard to replace.
To be honest, photography wasn’t even a passion of mine initially. For over a decade, I travelled the world, living in places most influencers would envy, yet I never had any interest to document it. No fancy feed, no endless photos, just memories, cherished and vivid in my mind.
But somewhere along the way, I fell in love with portrait photography, both on land and underwater. My 85mm lens became a trusted companion (though I pack a 50mm when traveling). There’s a unique joy in capturing faces, expressions, and stories in a single frame.
Moving forward here’s what I’m aiming to achieve in AI fashion photography:
Realism: The images should look as close to a real-life photoshoot as possible, with natural lighting, textures, and expressions.
Consistency: Cohesive clothing styles, color tones, and backdrops that make the collection feel unified and professional.
Wearability: The clothing should be realistic, something a brand could manufacture and people would actually want to wear in their normal life, not just if they were on a spaceship to Mars.
Diversity: Different ethnicity, sex, age, facial expressions, head positions to give the collection a genuine, lifelike feel.
Usability: Photos that could easily double as stock images on a brand’s website, providing brands with versatile, professional visuals.
